Mainstage offers a premier production studio rental experience, perfect for video production, photography, and live streaming. Located steps from Fulton Market, our studio is situated right in the heart of Chicago’s bustling production center in West Town. Mainstage aims to support productions of all shapes and sizes by providing flexible rental availability from by the hour to weeks at a time.

Video Studio Rental 101

The Cyclorama Stage

    • The 24’ x 24’ cyclorama stage provides an infinite white box shooting space that can be personalized to meet the needs of any project.

 

    • Concrete walls

 

    • Acoustic dampening inserts in the windows will ensure only capture the sound happening IN the studio and not outside.

 

The Broadcast Control Room

Our powerful control room is supported by Gigabit fiber lines and 4G LTE backups to establish strong internet for any broadcast transmission. The control room features:

    • Multi-camera switching. 

 

    • Cloud-accessible vMix control room. 

 

    • Set-up for both hard-wire (12G SDI) or virtual (NDI) signals, teleprompters.

 

    • Zoom integration.

 

    • Blackmagic Design switchers 
        • Including Constellation 1ME, 2ME, and ATEM Mini SDI or HDMI ISOs.
    • 2 Teleprompters.

 

    • Video and graphics playback stations running vMix.

 

    • Redundant encoding stations including OBS and Teradek VidiU.

 

    • Behringer X32 mixing console for up to 32 channels of live audio.

 

    • Additional stations for playback, PowerPoint, or other video signals.

 

    • Optional crew support.

 

Our broadcast control room is excellent for virtual events, hybrid meetings, satellite or digital transmission tours.

Available Gear

Forgot a piece of gear? Mainstage has an inventory of gear ranging from cinematic cameras that can shoot up to 6k RAW to the essentials like apple boxes and c-stands. A full list of gear that is available to rent can be found here. 

We also provide a selection of in-house furniture that can be used to design your set: 

    • Fold-out tables/fold-out chairs

 

    • Black fabric table covers 

 

    • Couches/chairs  

 

    • 2 news-anchor style desks

 

Gear rental subject to availability and rental package, pricing available upon request.

The Lighting Grid

The lighting grid allows for mounting projectors, additional lighting, curtains, and more. Our programmable DMX-controlled lighting grid includes: 

 

  • 6 full RGB LitePanels Gemini 2×1’s.

Available Services

Our flexible video studio rental options can fit the needs of any production or event! Rates for a studio rental:

  • $150 per hour
  • $1,000 per half-day
  • $1,750 per day

    • Recommendations to local rental houses.
  • Additional facilities such as the post-production bay and client lounge.
  • Access to the Broadcast Control Room.

Beyond video, film, live-stream, and photography productions, Mainstage’s multifaceted studio has been utilized as a gathering space for events such as intimate film screenings, networking events, and even a classroom for our workshops and master classes.

In-House Support

An on-site studio manager is included with every rental, so a Mainstage team member is there in-person to assist and support your team on the day of your production, whether that be helping your team fine-tune the Gemini LitePanels down to the hex code or recommending the best neighborhood restaurants! 

Mainstage prides itself on being an active part of Chicago’s vibrant creative community, so if you’re still looking to fill some positions on your production’s crew, we’ve got you covered! With a network of dedicated and talented local professionals from production assistants to camera-operators and lighting technicians, we’re here to provide on-site support to ensure your production runs smoothly!
